Construction

updated 09-24-26

Enchantment has postponed the main part of the construction until the day after we leave!

As a result, I am no longer concerned that their remodeling project will be in the way of our dinners and activities.

That said, there will still be some construction going on with some of the rooms, but they have assured me it won't be in the way of our enjoyment, won't be a noise issue near the rooms, and won't affect daytime activities by the pool or otherwise.

Let me know if you have any concerns that affect your enjoyment of the weekend at all, and we'll make sure to let them know.

Weather

updated 09-24-26

Early 10-day forecast shows highs in the 80s. overnight lows in the 60s.

Some dinners may be outside, with evening temps expected around 70.

Food

updated 09-24-26

The resort has two restaurants for breakfast and lunch, plus a coffee shop for grab-n-go options. The pool area also has food/drink service all day.

For dinners, we've planned:

FRI (530-830pm): happy hour/casual dinner in our own section @ North Patio of Tii Gavo

SAT (715pm): dinner in town at Mariposa, with 4 separate tables of 5, 6, 5, and 6

SUN (7-10pm): B60 party and catered buffet in a private room at the resort

Also, bonus dinner Thursday 10/1 in Old Town Scottsdale. If you're arriving the night before, let Neil know if want to join for dinner at Culinary Dropout.

(so far, I have Brodens, Koppens, Elise, and 2-4 Weinbees)

Cabanas

We have three cabanas reserved for all-day Saturday, giving us a corner of the pool area all to ourselves. Cost is $1500 total for cabana rental, so please contact Neil if you have an issue with participating in that.

Relax with poolside drink/food service all day, or use it as a base from which to explore the nearby spa or tennis/pickleball courts.

And participation in a round of 80s Name That Tune is a must.

Room at Grand Canyon

We have extra rooms on hold at the Grand Canyon that we need to cancel soon. If anyone is still thinking of going and wants a room, let Neil know asap - we will be cancelling them Friday 9/4 at Noon PT.

Spa Plans

Anyone wanting to book anything at the spa should contact:

Group Spa Coordinator

Mike.Schemensky@miiamo.com      (not a typo - two "i"s)

Let him know you are with the "B60-AZ-26 Birthday Group" and you are paying your own (i.e. not charging to the group account).

Keep in mind that on Saturday 10/3 we have cabanas by the pool all day, so that looks to be more of a day for in-resort stuff, as opposed to Sunday 10/4, which looks to be more of a day out hiking and whatnot.

Swag

Nancy has been working on some surprise B60 swag. She claims she’s designed something fun, useful, and lasting. But (unlike the B40 t-shirts) it costs a bit more, so she isn’t able to subsidize the whole thing. So as long as we're all into it, it's $80.
